Glasses! . . . by Hannah, 8

I got glasses!  They’re so cool!  The reason I got them is because:

  • I need them.
  • My right eye is kind of lazy.
  • The eye doctor said I should.
  • And they’re cool!

The REAL reason I got them is because my right eye is lazy and my eyes weren’t working together properly, and sometimes everything was way too small.  I’m actually wearing them right now while I’m writing this post!

I also have to wear a patch over my left eye an hour a day for about a month, to get the right eye back to work.  Here I am trying to look like a pirate:

Arg!

Nathan says all I need now is a beard!

  1. Hannah, your glasses are beautiful, just like you. You are the prettiest pirate that I could ever imagine. Dana, age 12, had to wear a patch when she was 2. And just a couple of weeks ago, Matthew, age 5, was told that he no longer needs to wear his patch. Enjoy your glasses and your patch!

  2. Hi Hannah, I had to wear glasses and a patch too when I was little. I had a lazy eye and was cross eyed!! My patch was white. I like your black patch, I bet it won’t get as dirty as mine did!!
I will pray for you that your eyes will get better. You look beautiful in your new glasses. :)
    Barb.

  3. Hannah–nice choice of glasses! Glad you have such a good attitude toward them, and hope your eye starts to behave right, now that you’re onto its “lazy habit”. Seems to me that’s the only part of you that’s lazy, though! I’m pretty impressed by how much homemaking and writing skill you have already and your desire to learn and practice those abilities.
P.S. You’re too cute to be a very scary pirate! Although you growing a beard would be scary…. Wouldn’t Nathan be jealous, though!

  4. You are a smart cookie to we’re your glasses and patch! I have a lazy eye that my parents didn’t fix for me when I was little and I can’t see out of that eye now. I’m okay with that and thankful God gave me two eyes! While working at my job as a nurse, I met a 88 year old precious lady, she was blind in one eye like me too! When she was a girl they didn’t know how to fix her lazy eye. You know she said she wasn’t allowed to even drive a car! Aren’t you glad you will have two good working eyes soon! Glad to read your story, thanks for sharing!
